Crash test of boxes for sending paintings abroad

The ArtDom gallery workshop has been manufacturing boxes for shipping paintings abroad since 2016. We have created an original design so that collectors and art lovers receive paintings whole and undamaged. We have already sent more than 1,000 international parcels, and in this article we will show the process of manufacturing our boxes and conduct a small crash test. 

During transportation - transportation by freight or delivery by mail - a painting or sculpture will inevitably receive bumps and damage. Therefore, high-quality packaging is very important.

Regardless of the chosen delivery option, the items will undergo several customs checks. Therefore, when making a box for transportation, we take into account all the nuances. Each box is made in such a design that customs officers can open and check the contents of the box with documents and close the box. At the same time, its protective functions will be preserved.

The main advantage of boxes from ArtDom is their low weight (up to 5 kg). A lightweight box will be inexpensive to deliver, which will significantly help save money (up to 40% of the shipping cost). Reliable packaging of paintings for delivery in its entirety

We use dense five-layer cardboard, which is stronger than ordinary, everyday cardboard. The integrity of the structure is ensured by a frame made of cardboard corners.

Before placing the painting in a box, we wrap it in several layers of bubble wrap.

We place sheets and pieces of foam plastic on the bottom and top of the painting, as well as on the sides.

If necessary, we reinforce the plane of the painting on both sides with solid sheets of fiberboard.

ArtDom specialists also produce various packaging modifications:

• reinforced boxes made of slats and fiberboard;
• boxes made of OSB boards, plywood;
• crate.
