Wooden or plastic painting moldings?
A frequent question when decorating paintings is what material to choose a painting or painting frame moulding. Our answer is only a wooden frame, which meets all the criteria - beauty, quality and reliability. A wooden frame gives weight to the work of art, not only literally, but also adds to the solidity of the work. Such framing does not look cheap and increases the value, which is good for the owner of such a status piece, as well as for future sales.
INTERESTING FACT. In European countries and even in the United States, sometimes they do not even know that paintings can be framed in a plastic baguette.
In Ukraine, plastic frames are common because of their low cost, but in this case there are a number of disadvantages:
- such a frame is easy to crumble, it breaks when bumped or dropped (the wooden baguette will leave a dent, if dropped, you can replace the corner bracket);
- has a peculiar (specific) sheen and the viewer understands that a painting in an inexpensive frame
What is the best choice for graphics - glass, anti-glare glass or acrylic?
- Glass is excellent at conveying image quality, it is easy to see the details of the work, but the work becomes very heavy (must be a strong frame and mount on the wall), when viewing and photographing there may be glare from the lighting;
- Antireflective glass is often used for exhibitions and museums. From the name it is clear that the glare when photographing and examining is minimal;
- Acrylic is used exclusively when sending graphics overseas. In the event of a fall, the glass will not break or damage the work.
What to do if the painting fell and got damaged, the frame burst?
In rare cases, simply replacing the corner brackets is sufficient. In most cases, the frame must be replaced and the baguette must be made anew. A repaired baguette can fall apart and damage the painting. Therefore, the best option is to make a new quality frame for the painting.
We can execute both one work, in which case the period from 1 to 3 days, and a large number of works (execution of 15 paintings for the exhibition takes from 3 to 10 days).
