Igor Zaitsev - Ukrainian artist

ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY

Ihor Anatolyevich Zaitsev is a Ukrainian painter, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2017. He was born on June 1, 1964 in the village of Berezove, Donetsk region. Lives and works in Dnipro.

Works in the genres of landscape, still life and portrait. His professional formation is associated with creative cooperation and study with famous Ukrainian artists: People's Artist of Ukraine Petro Magro, Yevhen Negoda and Fedor Pavlenko, as well as with studies at the Summer School of the I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 2012, St. Petersburg.

Zaitsev is a participant in numerous all-Ukrainian and international exhibitions and plein airs. In 2013 he became a laureate of the III degree of the international exhibition "Breath of Spring" / ART WEEK UKRAINA in Kyiv. In 2022–2025, he participated in the XXII–XXV International Repin Plein Airs. He has had solo exhibitions at the Dnipropetrovsk Art Museum, the Museum of Ukrainian Painting, the Dmytro Yavornytskyi House-Museum and other exhibition spaces.

In the artist's work, his own approach to plein air and easel painting is gradually taking shape, based on the interaction of light, color and form. From direct observation of nature, Zaitsev moves on to its emotional and coloristic transformation, striving to convey not only the visible motif, but also the inner feeling it evokes.

The current stage of his work is associated with the formation of his own system of pictorial thinking, in which color and form become independent carriers of the emotional content of his artistic language.
