Lytka Olena - Ukrainian artist

Olena Lytka (artistic pseudonym LIBER-TY) is a Ukrainian painter who lives and works in Dnipro. She works mainly in oil painting, as well as in mixed media, combining oil, acrylic and collage elements.
Olena is a self-taught artist. Her urge to draw appeared when she was ten, but she began to master painting seriously and experiment with techniques only as an adult. About five years ago, after twenty years in another profession, Olena left her main job to devote herself fully to art. She acquired her knowledge independently, drawing inspiration from the works of other artists, including world-class masters.
Lytka develops her artistic method through constant observation and experiments with material, composition, colour and form. She does not limit herself to a single stylistic device, believing that every subject requires its own visual language, while at the same time striving to develop a recognisable personal manner in painting. A separate strand of her practice is collage: the artist explored this medium and created her own collage works, which, in her words, were approved and appraised by Yevhen Karas. In her new works she also uses unconventional materials such as playing cards.
Landscape holds a central place in Olena Lytka's work. Her canvases show landscapes that seem to balance on the edge of reality and fantasy: through a subtle play of light and shadow, the artist creates a sense of illusory space and invites the viewer to reflect on the fragility and changeability of the world around us. Smooth colour transitions and multi-layered compositions evoke a calm, meditative contemplation. Her landscapes remind us that nature is not merely a resource, but a whole and majestic living organism.
In January 2026, the Dnipro House of Arts hosted Olena Lytka's solo painting exhibition "Illusions" (14 January – 4 February 2026), covered by the Dnipro media outlets Nashe Misto and Visti Prydniprovia. All the works on display were created during the war. As the artist herself notes: "My works reflect the period of life in which they were created. Each of them carries a deep meaning and the emotions of a particular time. All these works were born during the war. I believe that everyone who looks at them will find their own emotions — hidden very deep inside".
Her works have also been shown at group exhibitions, including the All-Ukrainian exhibition of contemporary art "Practices Contemporary 4" in Dnipro (2026).
Olena Lytka is the founder of the KOMA artists' association in Dnipro. Together with it, she seeks to promote contemporary Ukrainian art and to show that art in Ukraine is alive and deserves the attention of the whole world. Today the artist is working on new series and developing her practice within the context of contemporary Ukrainian and international art.
Olena Lytka's works are held in private collections in Israel, the USA, the United Kingdom and European countries.
