Yatsenko Olexandr - Ukrainian artist

Yatsenko Olexandr
1980

Olexandr Yatsenko (born March 12, 1980, in Cherkasy) is a contemporary Ukrainian painter working in Symbolism, abstract painting, and decorative art. He lives and works in Kyiv.

In 1999, he graduated from the Taras Shevchenko Republican Art School. In 2007, he completed his studies at the Faculty of Painting of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. From 2003 to 2007, he studied in the historical painting studio of Professor F. M. Humeniuk.

Oleksandr Yatsenko's artistic practice explores the relationships between humanity, nature, and the universe. The artist combines traditional oil painting with elements of mosaic, graphic art, Pointillism, and ornamental design. His distinctive artistic language is based on the contrast between two approaches: thick, relief-like painting with pronounced textures and delicate detailing reminiscent of graphic drawing or intricate lace-like ornamentation.

His works include abstract compositions, imaginary landscapes, and depictions of animals, plants, and marine organisms. Natural forms are transformed into complex decorative structures that combine recognizable imagery with symbolic and surrealist elements. His central themes include human self-identity, the interaction between natural and technological worlds, the relationship between microscopic structures and cosmic scales, and imagery associated with ancient civilizations.

Since 1999, Olexandr Yatsenko has participated in art exhibitions and plein-air painting events. His solo projects include "Philosophy of Beauty" (2009, Kyiv), "City in a Woman" (2017, Pavlovka Gallery, Kyiv), and "Digital World" (2018, Kyiv). In 2005, he received the Shatalin Prize from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.

The artist has been associated with the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2009 and has been a member of the Union of Designers of Ukraine since 2016. His works are represented in museum and private collections, including the Dubno Castle National Historical and Cultural Reserve, as well as collections in France and China.

A defining feature of Oleksandr Yatsenko's painting is the combination of expressive textures, intricate ornamental compositions, and symbolic imagery that explores the connections between natural processes, human culture, and the surrounding world.
