Andrey CHEBOTARU - famous master of plein air painting. Born in 1984 in Sevastopol (Crimea, Ukraine), in a family of artists. His father is a famous Ukrainian artist - Chebotaru Nikolai whose painting is presented in a more classical direction.

Early years and education

From an early age he showed interest in art and drawing. He often found inspiration in the beauty of his hometown and the surrounding nature. Andrey began to study painting while studying at local art schools. His first mentors noted the young artist’s extraordinary talent and diligence.

After graduating from school, he graduated from the Crimean Art School named after N. Samokish, then continued his studies at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, where his mentor was Nikolai Storozhenko.

This time became an important period of development for him as an artist, and his works began to participate in local exhibitions.

Creative path and style

Chebotaru Andrey works in different genres of painting, but landscapes and still lifes occupy a special place in his work. He prefers the use of oil and impasto strokes, creating bright and rich canvases. His style can be described as modern impressionism. In Andrey's paintings you can often see the play of light and shadow, which gives his works depth and emotionality, inner feelings and experiences.

Studying in the landscape workshop of Zabashta and Melnichuk, Andrei changes his palette, his paintings are filled with rich, bright colors and continuous movement.

The artist chose a landscape for his work. He paints his beloved Crimea and its picturesque places, views of the south of Ukraine (Odessa region - Vilkovo, Gribovka, Zatoka), city landscapes of Kyiv, the expanses of the Carpathians, travels a lot and displays landscapes of Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, France, UAE and other countries.

Famous works and periods of creativity

Among the famous paintings of Chebotaru are such works as “Morning in Sevastopol” (2005), “Sunset over the Sea” (2008), “Spring Park” (2010) and “Golden Autumn” (2012). These works reflect his mastery in conveying natural beauty and atmospheric phenomena. It is also worth noting a series of still lifes executed in 2015-2017, where the artist demonstrates a masterly command of color and composition.

He graduated from the Inkerman Art School and the Crimean Art School named after N. Samokish. He also studied at the landscape workshop of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. Since 2007, he studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (Kyiv).

He participated in various plein airs, exhibitions (Ukrainian and international), and also had personal exhibitions, in particular in Ukraine (Kiev, Ivano-Frankovsk, Kirovograd, Simferopol, Dnepropetrovsk, Sevastopol, Zhitomir, Odessa, Lviv, Transcarpathia), France, UAE, China, Montenegro, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Croatia, etc.

Currently, the artist’s works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine, Europe, the USA and Asia.

Exhibitions and recognition

Andrey Chebotaru actively participates in exhibitions both in Ukraine and abroad. His works have been exhibited in cities such as Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, as well as in international galleries in Poland, Germany, France and Italy. A 2010 exhibition in Kyiv dedicated to the Ukrainian landscape brought him widespread recognition and many positive reviews from critics. In 2012 he was awarded the Golden Palette Prize for achievements in fine art. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Participant and organizer of numerous plein airs around the world.
