Tomchuk Nataliya - Ukrainian artist

Natalia Tomchuk is a contemporary Ukrainian artist who works primarily in oil painting. Her work explores the interplay of color, light, and texture, aiming to convey not only the outward appearance of the subjects she depicts but also the mood, atmosphere, and emotional significance of a moment. Her artistic approach combines academic training with an individual perception of color and the world around her.
Natalia Tomchuk received higher education in fine arts at the Kremenets Taras Shevchenko Art and Pedagogical Academy, specializing in Fine Arts. Her professional training provided a foundation for her work with composition, painting materials, and the expressive possibilities of color. She primarily uses oil paints, paying close attention to surface texture, pictorial depth, and the relationships between color tones. Through painting, she seeks to convey not only the recognizable appearance of an object or place but also her personal impression of what she sees.
Landscapes, floral compositions, urban scenes, and seascapes hold a special place in Natalia Tomchuk’s work. These genres allow her to explore changing conditions in nature, the play of light, the qualities of space, and the expressive potential of everyday subjects. In her landscapes, she captures the character of a particular place through changing light, shades of the sky, landscape features, and the mood of nature. Her seascapes explore the changing surface of the water and the interaction between sky and sea, evoking a sense of calm, openness, and movement.
Floral compositions allow Natalia to focus on the beauty of natural forms, the interplay of colors, and expressive details. Color relationships, subtle transitions, and the overall harmony of the image are essential to these works. Urban subjects broaden the thematic range of her painting: architecture, streets, and familiar spaces become subjects of artistic observation, where lighting, the surrounding color palette, and the atmosphere of a particular place matter as much as the objects themselves.
One of the defining features of Natalia Tomchuk’s artistic approach is her attention to color harmony. She seeks to create balanced combinations of tones and smooth color transitions that give her images a sense of unity and emotional expression. Working in oils, she explores the possibilities of painterly texture and color depth. The realistic foundation of her works is complemented by her personal perception of what she observes, allowing natural and urban subjects to become a means of conveying individual impressions and moods.
Natalia Tomchuk has participated in art exhibitions in Kyiv and Ternopil. The exhibition projects listed in her profile include “Barvy Zhyttia” (“Colors of Life”), held in Kyiv from August 18 to 27, 2023, and the international exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian art “Temporarily Here” in 2025. She continues to develop her individual artistic language and present her work at art events in Ukraine.
Natalia Tomchuk draws inspiration from the beauty of familiar places, changing light, the quiet of nature, blooming plants, and the sea. Through painting, she seeks to preserve her personal impressions and share them with viewers, conveying a sense of place, sincerity of feeling, and the beauty of the world around her. Her portfolio features landscapes, seascapes, floral compositions, and other works. Visitors can explore her art and choose an original painting for a private collection or interior.
