The painting depicts the Polish Gate, a unique 16th-century defensive and hydraulic engineering complex located in the historic city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine. The composition features two towers that have survived to the present day. In the foreground stands the imposing yet compact Gate Tower, distinguished by its characteristic wooden tent-shaped roof and weather vane. Slightly farther away, on a rocky elevation, rises the Rock Tower. These ancient stone structures blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape, nestled among dense trees and wild shrubs displaying the first golden hues of autumn.

The artwork is executed in the artist's distinctive style, combining elements of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Rather than focusing on precise architectural details, the artist seeks to capture a vivid, fleeting impression of the location, emphasizing the interplay of light and atmosphere across the ancient stonework. The painting technique is characterized by expressive, thickly applied impasto brushstrokes. Bold, textured, three-dimensional strokes created with brushes and a palette knife produce a tangible sense of relief in the fortress walls and dense foliage, filling the landscape with movement and inner energy. The artist's distinctive signature, "Vasyl Nikitin, 2023", is located in the lower left corner of the canvas.

The artwork belongs to the category of dark-toned paintings. Its color palette is built around deep, rich shades, dominated by elegant greenish-brown and earthy ochre tones representing centuries-old trees and weathered stone structures. These colors contrast subtly with the muted, textured cloudy sky. The painting conveys an atmosphere of tranquility, historical grandeur, and the quiet beauty of fading autumn nature.
