This vertical miniature shows a corner of a yacht club right at the water's edge. In the right part of the canvas a white yacht is moored at the quay; its tall mast runs beyond the top edge of the picture, and below the hull lies a light bluish reflection in the water. On the left the bow of another vessel with thin rigging is visible. In the foreground a small white rowing boat with wooden thwarts is turned diagonally, leading the eye from the bottom corner into the depth. Higher up runs a light strip of pier with dark wooden piles and a reddish beam, while the top of the composition is taken up by a dark blue background, perhaps a green hillside or the evening shadow of the shore. The space is built on alternating light and dark horizontal bands crossed by the verticals of the masts.
The picture is painted with a palette knife in heavy impasto: white paint lies in thick slabs with sharp raised edges, clearly visible in the detail shots, while the texture of the canvas shows through between them. The boat is modelled with a few confident movements: light sides, ochre stripes of the seats, a dark shadow beneath the hull. The masts and their reflections are scratched as thin lines and drawn straight into the wet layer. Colour patches are laid on broadly without unnecessary detail, the way a plein-air painter captures the impression of a place. The signature "Yehor Dulin" reads clearly in the lower left corner.
The palette is built on refined cool shades: white, silvery grey, light blue and deep cobalt blue. Warm accents, such as a red spot on the yacht's deck, rusty brown pier piles and the ochre of the boat's seats, enliven the picture and give the eye points of rest. The light is soft and diffused, the water calm and almost mirror-like. The mood is quiet and focused: morning or evening in the harbour, before the bustle starts, when all you hear is water lapping against the hulls.
The author is Ukrainian painter Yegor Dulin, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and a recipient of the medal "For Service to Art". He took part in the national project "Picturesque Ukraine 2019" in Kropyvnytskyi, which brought together works by about 300 of the country's artists, and has held solo exhibitions in various Ukrainian cities.
At 25 × 35 cm the format is small and vertical: the painting looks good on a narrow wall, next to a door or window, above a desk, on a shelf or as part of a gallery wall of several works. The light grey-blue palette suits any interior, especially calm contemporary spaces, nautical and Scandinavian styles, a study or an office. "Yacht Club" is a stylish gift for a man who enjoys sailing, a friend who loves the sea, or a colleague or business partner.
