The small horizontal still life "Cherries" shows the scene from above, almost at a right angle to the table. The left half of the canvas holds a round white plate with a thin golden rim, heaped with ripe cherries on their stalks and a couple of green leaves. The plate rests on the border between two fabrics: pale blue on the left, and dark navy with light stripes on the right and below. Two cherries have rolled off the plate and lie on the striped cloth to the right, forming a small diagonal that leads the eye from the heap of berries to the lower right corner. At the top a light wall with a warm ochre-orange band can be made out, the edge of a table or a windowsill.

The cherries are painted with a palette knife, thickly and decisively: each berry is a few juicy raised strokes of red, crimson and violet paint with white highlights. The stripes on the dark fabric are laid down with confident long strokes that convey both the pattern of the cloth and its folds. The blue fabric on the left is painted more lightly, with the canvas texture visible. The impasto, almost sculptural layer is clearly seen in the close-ups: the palette knife leaves crisp edges on the surface and every berry catches the light, so the cherries look moist and firm, as if just washed. The artist's signature "Yehor Dulin" is in the lower right corner.

The colour scheme is built on strong contrast: the saturated red and crimson of the berries and the white plate ring out against deep navy and cool light blue, while the orange band at the top adds warmth. The light blue and navy act as a cool shade against which the red seems even hotter. The light is bright and summery, producing crisp highlights on the berries and the stripes of the cloth. The mood is juicy, fresh and a little playful: a painting about high summer and the simple pleasure of a handful of freshly picked cherries.

Yegor Dulin's paintings are held in private collections in Ukraine, Australia, the USA, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Canada and other countries. His painting "Mountains" was acquired by Samsung and presented in the Samsung Art Store.
