The painting "Bouquet with Roses" is a lush vertical still life in which the flowers seem to overflow the canvas. At the centre of the composition stands a rounded greenish-grey vase from which a generous bouquet rises: large white, cream and soft pink roses sit beside bright coral and crimson blooms, while small yellow, lilac and blue flowers are scattered around the edges. At the foot of the vase lies a bunch of green grapes, its berries spilling towards the edge of the table, and in the foreground, apart from the bouquet, lies a single fallen rose. The flowers fill almost the entire canvas, creating a sense of abundance.
The work is painted in oil on canvas using the author's own technique and is varnished; the edges of the stretcher are painted white. The roses are modelled with dense, raised strokes in which the energetic movement of the brush is clearly visible: the petals curl, catching light highlights. The background, by contrast, is handled freely and broadly — grey-green and bluish strokes evoke foliage and shimmering air. This contrast of textures brings the painting close to the Impressionist tradition while keeping each flower recognisable. The artist's signature and date are visible in the lower left corner.
The colour scheme combines delicate pastel shades of pink, cream and white with richer coral, crimson and yellow accents. The cool grey-green background and the green of the grapes balance the warm colours and make the bouquet look even brighter. The painting creates an atmosphere of celebration, a summer garden and generosity, yet it never feels loud: its brightness is soft, tempered by air and light.
In 1991 German Medvetsky graduated with honours from the Faculty of Architecture of the Odesa Civil Engineering Institute, and the combination of academic art training and architectural education shaped his particular attention to composition, space and proportion. Formal still lifes and flower paintings hold a significant place in his work. The artist's works are held in private collections in Ukraine, the USA, Israel, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and other countries.
The vertical 70 by 100 centimetre format makes the painting a striking accent on a living room wall, in a dining room, a spacious hallway or above a chest of drawers in a bedroom. The floral still life goes well with both classic and contemporary interiors in light and neutral tones, adding warmth and life to them. "Bouquet with Roses" is a wonderful gift for a woman for a holiday, an anniversary or a housewarming: unlike fresh flowers, this bouquet will bring joy for many years.
