Echo of Autumn is a horizontal landscape with an open field and a group of spreading trees. On the left a plain covered with tall sun-bleached grass stretches into the distance, while on the right a large tree with a curving trunk and widely spread branches stands on a rise. Behind it runs a band of dense crowns through which the sky shows. The foreground is crossed by a dark shaded strip — a hollow or a path leading diagonally into the depth — and in the lower left corner a sunlit patch of ground glows. The diagonal of the shadow and the line of the rise give the composition movement, while the massive tree on the right serves as its focal point.

The landscape is painted in oil with short, directional strokes that convey the texture of grass and foliage. The artist does not aim for photographic accuracy: he builds the image from large colour masses in which individual strokes form a shimmering painterly fabric. The blue glimpses of sky among the leaves look like a mosaic, and the trunks and branches are drawn with confident warm lines. The artist’s signature is in the lower right corner. The dense paint layer and the direction of the strokes create an almost tangible sense of wind running through the grass and the crowns.

The palette is built on the contrast of rich orange and turquoise blue. The fiery crowns and russet grass create the feeling of a warm autumn day when everything is flooded with low sunlight. Cool blue openings and a deep emerald shadow in the lower part of the canvas balance this warmth. The sky is painted in light mint-blue tones with white cloud strokes. The mood is joyful and slightly nostalgic, like a memory of the last sunny days of autumn.

Serhiy Shvydiuk has taken part in city and international exhibitions, and his works are held in private collections in America and Europe. The artist draws inspiration mainly from nature and the simple things present in our everyday lives, striving to grasp and convey the beauty and uniqueness of the world around us.

The 65 × 55 cm format suits a living room, study, country house or office. The warm orange palette will add cosiness and energy to an interior and pairs well with wood, leather, warm-toned textiles and turquoise accents. The painting will be a fine gift for a man or a woman who loves nature and autumn landscapes, as well as for admirers of contemporary Ukrainian painting. The painting also looks superb alongside other landscapes by the artist, forming a single colour story on the wall.
