"Reflection" is a large horizontal landscape by the water, seen as if from a high bank. Across the upper part of the canvas stretches a sunlit meadow from which two dark curving trunks rise; their silhouettes continue downward and turn into a reflection on the surface of the water. The centre and right half are taken up by a deep dark-blue mass of water or shadow that spreads across the canvas in whimsical branches. On the left it is framed by orange and green thickets, at the lower right by lush pink and green bushes, and in the lower left corner a light turquoise patch of water opens up, reflecting the sky.

The work is painted in oil in a manner that combines techniques of Post-Impressionism and Expressionism. The surface is built from many small strokes and colour patches that merge into a single vibrating fabric from a distance. The artist does not copy natural colours: grass turns orange, shadow becomes ultramarine, foliage turns pink. Forms are generalised, and the border between the real bank and its reflection is deliberately blurred, so the eye keeps moving between the top and bottom of the canvas. The signature "Швидюк" with the date 2025 is in the lower right corner.

The palette is built on a bold contrast of warm and cool tones. The blazing orange and tangerine of the meadow meets dense cobalt blue, with flashes of lime, emerald and bright pink between them. The turquoise water below adds freshness and coolness. The painting conveys the feeling of a hot summer day and light playing on water, yet there is something fairy-tale and almost unreal about it, as if a familiar landscape were seen through coloured glass.

Serhiy Shvydiuk is a professional graphic artist and painter from Ukraine. Today easel painting is his main occupation, and his works are held in private collections in America and Europe.
