The painting "August Evening" combines a floral motif with a landscape. White lilies are shown in close-up in the foreground: several open blooms with curved petals and orange stamens, and beside them tight green buds stretching upwards. Lilac bellflowers can be seen between the stems. Behind the lilies an evening view opens up: a calm river recedes into the distance, trees and bushes grow along its banks, the soft outlines of hills rise far away, and the sun is setting above the horizon. Meadows of pink and lilac flowers fill the lower right corner, creating a transition from the bouquet to the landscape. The lilies stand so close to the viewer that the landscape behind them reads as a view opening up from a blossoming garden.

The work is executed in a dual technique of acrylic and oil. The lilies are painted in detail and with volume: the white petals show delicate greenish and lilac shadows, veins and curves that convey their density and resilience. The landscape in the background is treated more softly, with a light haze, which creates a convincing sense of aerial perspective. The flower meadows are rendered with small dotted strokes. The artist's signature is visible in the lower left corner. The soft light of the sunset falls on the petals and links the foreground with the distance.

The palette of the painting is light and warm: peach, golden and pinkish hues of the evening sky are reflected in the water, and the white lilies seem almost luminous against this background. The green of the leaves and stems ties the composition together, while the lilac and pink flowers below add tenderness. The mood of the work is calm and peaceful, like a quiet summer evening by the water when the day's heat subsides and the air fills with the scent of flowers. The sunlit path on the river continues the warm light of the sky and leads the eye into the depth of the picture.

Landscapes are one of the directions of Evgenia Bilet's work. In depicting nature, the artist seeks to convey the character of the surrounding space, and landscape painting allows her to reveal the relationships between colour, light and form.

Light and calm in mood, the painting is well suited to a bedroom, living room or study where a restful atmosphere is desired. It harmonises with interiors in beige, white, peach and pastel tones. The work will be a tender gift for a woman — for a birthday or an anniversary, for example — as well as for anyone who loves lilies and summer landscapes by the water. The combination of flowers and a river landscape makes the painting versatile: it has both the festive quality of a bouquet and the openness of nature.
