“Lunaria, Moon Grass” is an expressive floral composition by Orest Tsiupko, in which a familiar natural subject takes on an almost abstract quality. The artist depicts lunaria in close-up, focusing on the plant’s distinctive rounded seed pods. Numerous light-colored forms intertwine, creating a complex textured surface reminiscent of a cloud or a shimmering scattering of moonlight.

The composition is built around the contrast between warm yellow and cool gray-blue tones. The left side of the painting is filled with bright, sunny color, which gradually gives way to a quieter palette of gray, blue, and muted shades of navy. The white and silvery elements of the plant connect these color fields, creating a sense of a gentle transition between light and shadow. The raised brushstrokes add depth and emphasize the tactile quality of the painted surface.

The work reveals elements of Neo-Modernism and Expressionism. The artist moves away from an exact reproduction of natural forms, using simplification, expressive texture, and contrasting color choices. Lunaria becomes more than a botanical subject: it emerges as an independent artistic image that combines natural delicacy with decorative expression.

The title “Moon Grass” strengthens associations with nocturnal light, translucency, and the changing character of natural forms. At the same time, the sunny yellow background creates an intriguing contrast with the plant’s cool palette, adding a sense of visual tension to the composition.

This painting can become a distinctive focal point in a living room, bedroom, study, or creative space. Its combination of yellow, gray, and blue will complement contemporary interiors featuring clean-lined furniture, natural materials, and neutral finishes.

This original work by Orest Tsiupko will appeal to admirers of contemporary floral painting, expressive texture, and unconventional interpretations of natural subjects.
