"Autumn" is a semi-abstract vertical composition in which the season appears as an image close to a symbolic portrait. In the upper part of the canvas a cluster of fiery orange and red strokes flares up, resembling a wreath or crown of autumn leaves. Beneath it a generalised silhouette can be made out: a pale oval form, like a bowed face or a shoulder, wrapped in deep violet shadows. The figure is not rendered in detail — it emerges from streams of paint and dissolves back into them. To the left and right the space is filled with vertical runs of ochre, rusty red and blue that flow downwards like rain or falling leaves. The composition rests on a diagonal: from the bright patch at the top the eye slides down the pale form to the lower edge, where the colours gradually quieten.

The work is painted in oil on canvas and combines several ways of handling paint. The upper part is impasto: dense, raised strokes with sharp edges are laid on boldly and energetically, creating a lively, almost sculptural texture. The pale central form, by contrast, is modelled softly in thin layers with smooth tonal transitions. Along the edges the paint is thinned and left to run in drips — a device that brings a sense of movement and chance typical of expressive painting. In places the weave of the canvas shows through the thin layers, heightening the contrast between light and dense areas. The artist's signature "Цюпко О" with the date "18" is in the lower right corner.

The palette is built on the contrast of warm and cool tones: fiery orange, brick, burgundy and golden ochre sit next to rich ultramarine and lilac. The brightest patches are concentrated at the top, while towards the bottom of the canvas the colour lightens into muted yellow and greenish shades. The mood is pensive and slightly restless: this is autumn not as harvest time, but as a time of change, parting warmth and inner focus. The blue strokes on the right sound like the cold breath of approaching frosts, while the light ochre below keeps the memory of sunny days.

Orest Tsyupko is a Ukrainian painter born in 1963 in Lviv, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and director of the Khust City Art Gallery. He graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts, where he studied in the ceramics department. In his easel painting the artist combines elements of realism, Art Nouveau and symbolism, paying particular attention to colour and natural forms.

The 50 × 60 cm format makes the painting suitable for a living room, study or bedroom, where it will become an expressive colour accent. The warm, fiery palette goes well with interiors in brown, terracotta and graphite tones, with wood and natural textures. The work will make a fine gift for someone who appreciates expressive, symbolic painting and loves autumn as a time for reflection. To bring out the raised texture of the upper part, the painting is best hung in side or soft warm lighting.
