"Tulips" is a still life with a bouquet of white tulips in a rectangular glass vase. The vase stands at the lower edge of the canvas, slightly to the right, and the flowers open above it in a wide fan: some buds reach upwards, others lean left and right, almost touching the edges of the picture. Long pointed leaves and thin stems cross inside the vase, forming a rhythmic network of lines. The background is kept light and calm but is enlivened by decorative elements: rows of small circles on the right and left, a chequered pattern of pale blue squares in the upper left corner, and vertical stripes along the bottom.

The painting is done in acrylic with an expressive texture. The tulip petals are outlined with a fine graphic contour, and their volume is built from translucent layers of white and grey-blue. The leaves and the glass of the vase are constructed from sharp facets and planes, giving the image a touch of geometric stylisation. The background is worked in several layers: scratched lines, scuffs and imprints resembling a stencil pattern show through the pale paint. The signature "Цюпко О." with the date "25" appears in the lower right corner.

The palette is restrained and cool: white, pearl grey, turquoise, mint and deep blue. The blue tones of the leaves and vase echo the decorative squares in the background, while the white flowers almost dissolve into the light space, held in view by their fine outlines. The mood is quiet, fresh and slightly translucent, like early spring in a room filled with soft light.

Orest Tsyupko is a contemporary Ukrainian artist and a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Easel painting is the core of his practice; still life is among the genres he works in, and attention to colour and natural forms marks many of his works.

The 70 × 60 cm format and the light white and turquoise palette make this painting versatile: it will suit a bedroom, living room, bright kitchen or study and complements Scandinavian or contemporary interiors. It makes a gentle spring gift for a woman, a colleague or anyone who loves flowers.
