Repka Alexander - Ukrainian artist

Repka Alexandr (also - Repka Aleksandr) – a Ukrainian artist born in Kyiv in 1967 into a family of artists, whose work encompasses both the refined technique of etching and the vibrant expressiveness of oil painting. This creative atmosphere destined him for an early immersion into the world of art.
Oleksandr took his first steps in professional education at the Taras Shevchenko Republican Art Secondary School, where he laid a solid foundation for his craft. His further journey continued at the Mykola Samokysh Crimean Art College and then within the walls of the Kyiv State Art Institute, where he actively developed his unique artistic style.
A significant milestone in Oleksandr Repka's formation was his trip to France in 1992. There, he continued his studies at the prestigious I’INSBA (École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts) in Paris, mastering new facets of his art in the workshop of the renowned artist Claude Viallat. This period had a profound influence on his artistic vision and enriched his artistic palette.
From 1995, Oleksandr Repka lived and worked in France and the Czech Republic, actively participating in the artistic life of Europe. In 2000, he became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, a recognition of his contribution to Ukrainian art. In the same year, he began exhibiting regularly at the Levasseur Gallery in Paris and participating in the Grand Marché d'Art Contemporain – a significant event in the world of contemporary art. His works have also been exhibited in galleries in Prague.
Since 2000, Oleksandr Repka has resided in Sevastopol, where he has continued to work fruitfully. His solo exhibitions in Kyiv and Sevastopol have invariably attracted the attention of viewers and art critics alike.
Oleksandr Repka's oeuvre is multifaceted and defies easy categorization. His works range from urban landscapes imbued with a special romance and mystique, to vibrant and lively still lifes, psychologically profound genre paintings, and mythological subjects. Art critics note the high quality of his painting, its freedom, and its richness. In his narrative works, a subtle understanding of human psychology is evident, with characters endowed with vivid personalities and inner tension.
The artist himself admits that painting for him is a spontaneous magic and mystery, where the main thing is to manage to capture inspiration and transfer it to the canvas. He finds particular significance in participating in exhibitions, seeing it as an opportunity to rethink his works and gain new impetus for further creativity.
Oleksandr Repka's extraordinary works are held in museum collections and private collections in France, Germany, and Ukraine, testifying to the international recognition of his talent and distinctive artistic voice. Oleksandr Repka continues his creative journey, remaining one of the most interesting and unpredictable artists of contemporary Ukraine.
