Attribution is a procedure in art that helps establish, identify, and confirm the authorship of an artwork. In other words, it is the determination of the authenticity of a painting (drawing, sculpture) and the identification of its creator. During the attribution process, the expert is guided by their own knowledge of a specific artist and the data provided by specialized equipment.

• state of preservation (condition);
• period of painting or creation of the artwork;
• base materials;
• artist's school, movement, and style.
