Sculpture Digging into yourself, author Shevchuk Dmitry

At the beginning of his own series of sculptures “Satire as the Art of Life,” Dmitry Shevchuk had already made the subject “Digging into oneself.” It was a small-format sculpture, 15 cm high. In 2024, the author decided to make a remake of the old figure and created a new version. In this plot, the sculptor left cupboards in the body of the main character, he is still “digging into himself,” but this time the author “sat” the hero on a square, which is heated by a candle. The hero has to understand himself and quickly look for a solution to the problem under the heat of the fire.

Author's handmade work. Sculptor Dmitry Shevchuk he prepares the figure from wax, applies a clay layer, then - melts the wax. Only then is the metal poured. Afterwards, the author makes the final touches and the figurine is ready. The whole process, from sketch to finished figurine, takes about 3 weeks. So, the master can create, although not much, very original, funny and beautiful sculptures.
