Turpentine essence (pinene) 125 ml Divolo
- Overview
- Characteristics
Turpentine essence is a plant-based product with a distinctive pine aroma, also known as "penene." It is an organic solvent obtained by distilling the resin of certain pine trees (a more purified form of turpentine). It is used to thin oil paints, make mediums, and dissolve resins (such as dammar varnish).
Properties and areas of application Traditionally used for the preparation of natural varnishes for wooden furniture, for diluting vegetable oils, resins and enamels.
It is used to dissolve fats, bitumen, natural resins, and rubber. It is also suitable for cleaning brushes, palettes, and other tools from oil paint residue. It can affect the gloss of oil paints, making them more matte. In painting, it is used to make oil paint more fluid and to thin certain paints based on natural or acrylic resins, made from turpentine or white spirits.
Use only in a well-ventilated area.
Physical state: Clear liquid
Color: Colorless, transparent
Smell: Strong, typical of pine, fir.
