A kneaded eraser differs from a regular eraser in that while an eraser simply erases the thin top layer of paper, a kneaded eraser seems to remove particles of graphic material without damaging the paper or smudging the drawing.

If you give the eraser a wedge shape, you can easily erase fine details of the design.
