"Venus and Cupid" is a mythological allegory interpreted through the lens of postmodern sensibility. The female figure, easily recognizable as Venus, appears almost spectral, seemingly dissolving into the dark background. She embodies the divine yet elusive feminine principle, representing eternal wisdom and beauty. Opposite her stands a nude Cupid, paused in confusion, his gaze directed upward toward the goddess, his hand reaching out to her in a blend of childlike innocence and nascent desire. The scene lacks linear perspective, creating a confined space that evokes a theatrical backdrop or a dream, where mythological figures engage in an intimate, almost psychological interaction. The color palette is restrained and symbolic, dominated by earthy, dark green, and flesh tones, which enhance the sense of an ancient myth filtered through the artist's personal, emotional perception.

Pavlov Viktor (1947–2023) — an Odesa-based graphic artist, representative of the Odesa art school. His work is characterized by deep symbolism and an interest in mythological and philosophical themes. Pavlov's works combine classical academic schooling with elements of expressionism and abstraction. A special place in his creations is given to the theme of the human body as a conduit for the inner world and hidden emotions. Pavlov actively participated in Odesa's artistic life; his works are found in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
