Zigura Nikita - Ukrainian sculptor

Zigura Nikita – a well-known Ukrainian sculptor, visionary of the present, whose creative path is marked by a relentless search for harmony between classical plasticity and innovative forms, between the industrial era and ecological consciousness. Works in creative tandem with his twin brother - Zigura Egor.
The Zigura brothers - a phenomenon of Ukrainian art, a combination of talent, creativity and philosophy of being.
Born in the industrial heart of Ukraine, Dnipro (formerly Dnipropetrovsk), in 1984, he was able to rethink traditional ideas about sculpture, filling it with actual meanings and bold experiments.
Nikita Zigura took his first steps into the world of art within the walls of the Taras Shevchenko State Art Secondary School, where he laid a solid foundation of academic knowledge. His aspiration for a deeper understanding of plasticity led him to the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, where he initially mastered his skills in the sculpture department (2003-2009) and subsequently deepened his knowledge during his assistantship-internship (2009-2012). Already in 2012, his talent was recognized with membership in the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, which became a testament to his professional maturity and contribution to Ukrainian art.
The early period of Zigura's work was marked by receiving the prestigious grant of the President of Ukraine for the monumental composition "Malusha and Volodymyr" in the ancient city of Liubech (2012), as well as a scholarship from the Kyiv City Mayor for gifted youth (2011). These awards became an important impetus for the further development of his unique artistic style.
Today, Nikita Zigura is the author of more than a dozen monumental and park sculptures that adorn urban spaces in Ukraine and around the world, from Kyiv to Dubai, Sydney, and Orlando. His works are held in private collections of art connoisseurs in Ukraine, Germany, Spain, France, Monaco, and Latvia, which testifies to the international recognition of his talent.
A special place in Zigura's oeuvre is occupied by his large-scale project "New Archeology." During the global environmental crisis, the artist feels an urgent need to rethink the role of art in preserving the environment and forming a new ecological consciousness of humanity. This concept is embodied in the creation of eco-sculptures – a symbiosis of living and non-living materials, where cold metal is entwined with green shoots of wild grapes, symbolizing the inseparable connection between nature and civilization. These projects have a dual purpose: to integrate art into modern eco-culture and to draw public attention to pressing environmental issues.
Continuing to explore the possibilities of land art, Nikita Zigura created a resonant series of large-scale projects "Peaceful Sky" in Denmark, France, and Ukraine, which gained wide popularity far beyond these countries. These works demonstrate his ability to think globally and embody deep ideas in impressive visual forms.
Recently, the artist has been actively working with cast acrylic, creating polychrome sculptures within the framework of the "Eden" and "Horizon" projects. In these works, he masterfully combines the latest technologies with classical sculptural techniques. The generalized forms of the sculptures are emphasized by a carefully polished surface, which gives the colors incredible depth and saturation. This homogeneous texture contrasts with ornamental elements resembling a starry sky, oriental arabesques, or world maps, which seem to cover the compositions like a pattern.
In the "Horizon" project, Zigura addresses the eternal questions of being – the infinity of space and human physicality, the influence of technology, and the interaction of humanity with the forces of nature. The "Children's" series explores the complex relationships within the family. A special feature of these works is the invitation of the viewer to tactile interaction – touching the polished surface leaves a temporary trace on it, symbolizing the transience and fluidity of existence.
Collaboration with his brother, Yegor Zigura, was embodied in the creation of the monumental sculpture “Unity”, installed on the Dneprovska embankment in Kiev. This work quickly became one of the visiting cards of the capital, a favorite place for Kiev citizens and guests of the city.
Nikita Zigura is an artist who is not afraid to experiment, combining different materials and techniques. His work is a reflection of complex and urgent issues of our time, and his unique style makes him one of the brightest figures in the contemporary art scene of Ukraine and the world. His works encourage reflection on man's place in the world, his responsibility to nature and the eternal values of existence.
